That time my novel's villain turned into a hero by accident
I was writing a scene where the bad guy was supposed to burn down a library, but halfway through I realized he had a backstory about his mom being a librarian who died in a fire. I just sat there staring at my laptop in a coffee shop for like 10 minutes before I deleted the whole chapter and started over. Has anyone else had a character completely hijack your plot like that?

Man that's rough but I kinda get it. Sometimes these characters just take on a life of their own and you gotta respect that even if it messes up your plan. I've had characters do stuff I never saw coming and it's always a weird feeling trying to decide if you should fight it or just go with it.
