Simple trick for dialogue actually got my scenes moving

I kept writing these talky scenes where nobody did anything, until I tried having each character say their line while performing a small action like pouring coffee or tying a shoe. It gave the conversation a beat and a sense of place. What's a trick that made your writing click?

Nah I feel you on this actually. It's not about needing a prop every line, it's more like giving the brain something to latch onto so the dialogue doesn't feel floaty. I read a lot of scripts where people just stand there talking and it makes my eyes glaze over.

Pretty sure you're overthinking it. Sometimes characters just gotta talk and that's fine, not every line needs a prop. I've read plenty of great scenes where people just sit still and have a conversation.
