Picked the haunted house prompt over the historical fiction one at our writers group last night

Ended up writing a 2000 word short story about a ghost that just wants someone to fix the leaky faucet in the bathroom, and now three members asked me to turn it into a series - has anyone else had a silly prompt turn into something way bigger than you expected?

Haha wait really @karen_martin? I actually see it the opposite way lol. The whole "life does the same thing" thing feels forced to me. Like sometimes a silly prompt is just a silly prompt and people try too hard to make it deep. Your story sounds fun as hell though, a ghost annoyed about a leaky faucet is gold. But not everything has to be some sign from the universe about bigger plans you know? Sometimes it's just a funny idea that took off because it was well written. I bet that series will be great if you keep it light and don't overthink it.

Isn't it funny how the best stuff comes out of left field like that? It makes me think how life does the same thing, you set out to do one small thing and it turns into a whole different plan.
