Forked over $50 for a plot twist generator app, huge regret.

I was stuck on my fantasy novel's midpoint and thought a plot twist generator would spark something new for $50. It just spat out cliches like 'the real villain was the friend all along' and 'they wake up and it was all a dream.' Has anyone actually found a writing tool that gives fresh ideas instead of recycled junk?

Fifty bucks for a plot twist generator that gave you "it was all a dream"? That is wild. I would have asked for my money back.

The thing that gets me is not even the money, it's the audacity to call that a "plot twist generator" in the first place. Fifty dollars is like half a year's worth of decent writing craft books from the library sale bin that teach you real techniques. People get so caught up in the promise of a quick fix they forget the old fashioned way of just reading a ton of books and stealing the twists from the greats. That generator probably just scrapes wikipedia's list of plot devices and charges you for the privilege of being stuck on step one.
