Bought a $15 book of random writing prompts from a gas station
I got it for a road trip, but the prompts were so weird they actually helped me write a short story about a talking mailbox. It broke me out of a creative block I had for months. Has anyone else found a strange source for good writing ideas?

Gas station literature is the real unsung hero. My best character came from reading the back of a shampoo bottle in a truck stop bathroom. The directions for "volumizing lather" basically wrote a villain's monologue. Sometimes the weirdest stuff just clicks.

Disagree, @karen_martin... real books just work better.

Wait, have you tried reading the side of a cereal box at 3am?
