Two weeks with a newer Liebherr and I finally get why guys swear by the LICCON controls
I've been running an old Grove for the last 8 years and always thought the fuss about newer systems was just salesman talk. Then I spent 14 days on a high-rise job in Austin with a 2022 Liebherr and the load charts updated in real time - had a 45-ton pick that my old rig would've called sketchy but the computer said it was fine with 15% margin. Anyone else find themselves trusting the load moment indicators more on the newer machines or is that just me getting soft?

Wait hold on, 45 tons with a 15% margin on a machine that new? That's insane. I thought load moment indicators were just for show half the time.

Are we really supposed to trust something that new to lift that much? I mean, I get that load moment indicators are better than they used to be, but stuff like that makes me nervous. There's so much that can go wrong with a machine that hasn't been field-tested for years, and 15% doesn't leave much room for a mistake. I'd rather see a 25% or 30% margin at least until we know it's reliable. Really hope nobody gets hurt betting on those numbers.
