Tried a new way to set up for a tricky lift on a tight site last week

We had to place a 12-ton HVAC unit on a roof in downtown Seattle with maybe 10 feet of swing room. I usually set up with the outriggers fully extended right away, but this time I tried a partial extension first to get the truck closer to the building. That extra 3 feet of boom reach made all the difference, and we cleared the edge of the roof with inches to spare. It saved us at least an hour of repositioning. Has anyone else found a small setup change that solved a big space problem?

My last tight lift I nearly took out a fire hydrant.

A fire hydrant? That's way too close.

I always thought full extension was the only safe way, but that extra few feet of reach is a game changer. Sounds like you avoided @finleythomas's fire hydrant problem.
