Tried a new lube brand on my crane's boom and it was a total disaster

I swapped out my usual grease for that new synthetic stuff from the hardware store, figured it would be an upgrade or whatever. After 3 shifts running a 50-ton load near the port, the boom started making this grinding noise that made everyone stop and stare. Turns out the lube wasn't rated for the heat we get in July (we hit 95 degrees that week) and it just dripped off like butter. Had to shut down for a full day to re-grease everything and lost out on $800 in rental fees. Has anyone else had a bad experience switching from standard to synthetic lube on a larger crane?

Did you check the temperature rating before you bought it?
