Snapped a pendant cable on a 40 ton last Thursday in Fort Worth
Ngl, I was booming down a load of rebar and heard a pop, looked up and one of the pendant cables had a broken strand right at the wedge socket. I stopped everything, locked out the machine, and got the operator down so we could tag it and call the LMI guy out from Arlington. The cert had been good for 11 months on paper, but the inspection paperwork showed the last guy signed off on it from the ground without climbing up. Took us 4 hours to swap the cable and re-run the load chart test, put us way behind on the pour. Anyone else seeing more of these paper inspections lately because crews are too short staffed to do it right?
