He promised me beers for life, but the look on my boss's face when he drove by was priceless.

My buddy once borrowed a dump truck from work to clear out his backyard. Using a crane for a hot tub delivery is nothing compared to that. Friends help friends, and beers for life is a sweet bonus. Your boss driving by was just bad timing, but it's not like you stole anything. Heck, if anything, you're building community spirit.
