Operator error or just bad luck? I had to pick between a $200 rental and a sketchy used cable from a buddy's uncle...

Blew a buddy's budget on a brand new cable from a big box store, like $250 for a 50 footer. First time out, the connector snapped clean off inside his guitar jack. Had to drive an hour to a friend's place with a vice and drill to get it out. Meanwhile my other friend uses a $40 cable he found at a pawn shop and it's been solid for two years. Makes you wonder if the price tag really means anything at all, right?
