I finally stopped ignoring the old timer who kept telling me to slow down on my picks

He watched me overshoot a landing zone by 6 feet on a high-rise job in Austin last month and just said, 'You're rushing the swing, kid,' and now I take an extra 10 seconds to adjust before every lift - has anyone else had a seasoned operator casually fix a bad habit with one line?

Six feet is a lot, you were definitely rushing it.

Six feet isn't that bad if the landing zone is clear. Maybe you're thinking of a full on jump versus just dropping down.

Rushing the swing" hit way too close to home. I once tried to knock ten seconds off a brake job and ended up putting the caliper on backwards. That old timer would've had a field day with me.
