Hit 500 lifts in one week at the Port of Savannah and honestly, more hours does not mean more skill
Everyone keeps saying you need 2000 hours before you even think about calling yourself decent, but I ran 500 lifts in a single week on container cranes at the Port of Savannah back in March and learned more in those 5 days than I did in my first 6 months. The thing nobody admits is that repeating the same pick over and over just makes you fast at one motion, not a well rounded operator. I got so locked into that one rhythm that when they moved me to a different crane with a longer boom the next Monday, my timing was garbage for 2 whole shifts. Has anyone else had a high rep week actually set them back when they switched machines?
