Had the worst Friday of my career last week
Wind was steady at 28 mph with gusts up to 40, but the site super insisted we keep lifting because he was behind schedule. We were setting steel beams for a new warehouse in Tulsa and I had to abort two picks because the load started swinging bad. The third one nearly hit a welder's truck, cost us an extra 3 hours to re-rig and reposition everything. Has anyone else had a foreman push you to work in conditions you knew were unsafe?

That superintendent put you in a bad spot, and I'm sorry you had to deal with that. Wind like that with steel beams is just asking for something to go sideways fast. Good on you for aborting those picks even with the pressure. A wrecked truck or a hurt welder would have cost way more than three hours lost. Hope the rest of the week went smoother for you.

Wait, they seriously pushed for a pick with steel beams in that kind of wind? I mean, that's not just bad judgement, that's like asking for a disaster movie to happen on your jobsite. Good thing you stuck to your guns because that could have ended way worse than just three hours lost.
