Bought a fancy laser level for rigging, total waste of cash

Spent $400 on it thinking it would make my life easier, but the thing just couldn't handle the vibration on site. Ended up going back to my old plumb bob after a single morning. Anyone have a better tool for checking vertical on a windy day?

Is the vibration really that bad or did you maybe set it up wrong? My crew uses a cheap laser level for rough framing and it holds up fine. Maybe you just got a bad unit or it's not meant for heavy equipment work.

Honestly, it can be that bad. We had the same issue with a new level on a site near a busy road. Every time a big truck rolled by, the dot would dance all over the studs. We ended up having to move it to an interior wall away from any traffic. It was fine for layout after that, but you're right, maybe some units just can't handle that kind of shake.

Wait, you spent four hundred bucks on a laser?
