A simple change to my pre-lift routine cut my setup time in half

For the first two years on the job, my pre-op check was just the basics... maybe 15 minutes. Then I saw an old hand at the Seattle port spend a full 30 minutes just on the pad and outriggers. I started doing the same, really checking ground pressure and level with a digital gauge. Now my first pick of the day is always smoother and I haven't had a single 'settle' scare since. What's the one part of your setup you never rush?

Find that extra time often comes from knowing your usual sites... my ground is almost always the same compacted yard fill. Spending half an hour every morning feels like overkill when a solid five-minute walk-around catches any real issues. I'd rather use that saved time to double-check my rigging.

Consider how morning light changes what you can see. A quick walk at dawn misses things that stand out in full sun, so maybe mix up your check times. Could save you from missing a soft spot that looks fine in low light.
