Warning: I tried using a beard trimmer on my client's stubborn split ends instead of shears and it actually worked better
After 15 years of fighting with dull blades on thick curly hair, I finally got a cleaner cut with a $30 Wahl clipper than my $200 shears - has anyone else had better luck with clippers over scissors for textured hair?

I was totally against using clippers on anything but beards until last month when my Wahl crapped out mid-trim and I grabbed my old dog clippers as a joke. Ended up getting through a 4C clients ends cleaner than my shears ever did, no joke. I think a lot of us were taught that shears are the only way but theres something about the clipper blade gliding through thick texture that just works.

@victor_butler50 keep those blades oiled and tension right and you'll be surprised what clippers can handle.

Hold up, @victor_butler50 are we really acting like dog clippers are the new standard for texture work now? I mean, I get that shears can be fussy sometimes, especially on thicker hair, but that feels like more of a tool setup problem than a shears vs clippers thing. My old man used to swear by his Andis outliners for everything, but he still kept his shears sharp as heck. Maybe your blades were just dull or your tension was off? I just hate seeing people jump on a trend without checking if their gear is actually tuned right first.
