Vent: client told me my 10 years of experience didn't matter
Had a woman in my chair last Tuesday who literally said 'you're too young to know what you're doing' before I even picked up my scissors. She walked out after I refused to do a box bleach over her previous dark box dye. Has anyone else dealt with clients who judge you based on age instead of skill?

Whoa hold up. I gotta push back a little here. You refused service based on her hair history, not your age. Ten years is a solid track record, but age bias cuts both ways. I've had young clients dismiss me because I'm older, like I'm out of touch. She was rude for sure, but walking out because you did the safe call? That's on her, not your license.

Evan, you just accused a stylist of age bias while defending a client who threw a tantrum over basic precautions, that's some Olympic-level mental gymnastics right there. Age cuts both ways sure, but so does common sense, and walking out on someone trying to protect their license isn't a 'gotcha' moment for anyone. At this rate, maybe we should just let clients bring in their own scissors and save everyone the drama.
