Took me 3 days to figure out why my toner kept turning muddy green

I was using a lavender toner on level 8 blonde hair and it kept going this GROSS swampy green instead of cool beige. After 3 days of testing and a call to my old instructor, turns out my water in this apartment has TONS of iron and it was reacting with the violet base. Has anyone else run into water quality messing up their toner results like this?

That "swampy green" sounds rough... did you try distilled water just to see if that fixes it?

Honestly I think people blow this water thing way out of proportion. Tap water is fine for most plants unless you're growing like a tropical orchid or something really picky. My pothos and snake plants have been getting straight tap water for years and they're totally fine. Ngl the city water here is pretty hard too so maybe it depends on where you live but I wouldn't rush out to buy distilled water unless you see actual damage.
