TIL that skipping the blow-dry on a curly cut can actually work better

Everyone in my salon in Austin says you HAVE to blow-dry a curly cut to see the shape, but I had a client last week who was super sensitive to heat. I tried cutting her hair while it was still damp from the wash, just using my fingers to pull the curls into place. The shape came out perfect, and she said it was the best her curls had ever looked air-dried. Has anyone else tried cutting curly hair without the full dry-down first?

Wait, is it really that big of a deal? I feel like every stylist acts like there's only one right way to do things. If it worked for her hair and she loved it, that's what matters, lol. Seems like the rules are made to be broken sometimes.

Exactly, aaronowens is onto something with the rules thing. It's all about what the hair actually needs, not just following steps. If the curl pattern is already clear when it's damp, you can totally work with that.
