TIL I was probably frying my clients' hair with my old blow dryer technique
Honestly, I had a client come in last week for a color touch-up and she mentioned her ends felt like straw since her last cut and style with me. I was using my favorite 1875-watt dryer on high heat and high speed, sectioning and pulling the brush tight like I always do. She said her stylist back in Ohio used a way cooler setting and a diffuser attachment for her fine hair. It hit me that I was just blasting everyone the same way, trying to get them out the door fast. I tried her method on my next client with similar hair, and the result was so much shinier and softer. I feel bad for all the damage I might have done without knowing. Has anyone else had a wake-up call about their heat styling routine?

Man, that reminds me of the time I burned a straightener stripe right into my own hair. I was rushing to get ready for a date, cranked the iron to max, and just ZOOMED through a section. The smell was awful, like burnt plastic, and I had this weird crispy patch for MONTHS. It totally changed how I use heat at home now, I always start on the lowest setting that actually works. That kind of damage is so sneaky.

Honestly see this everywhere, people rushing and skipping steps just to wreck their own stuff.
