Spent 3 hours trying to fix a orange peel finish on a client's gel manicure before I figured out the lamp was dying

and then when you finally swap the lamp it works perfectly in like 5 minutes right? thats so frustrating but honestly dying lamps are sneaky like that. they fade so slowly you dont notice until you're staring at a lumpy mess wondering what you did wrong. i keep a backup lamp now and test it on myself every few weeks just to catch it before it screws up a client. orange peel is the worst because its so easy to blame technique or product when really its just the lamp being a jerk.

Laughing at myself cuz I swear every time I swap a lamp I'm like "wait, it was THIS easy the whole time?" I've got a whole graveyard of old lamps in my drawer that I keep meaning to toss but I just know the minute I do I'll need a backup. My own hands are the test dummy now too, can't trust anything else.
