PSA: a stylist at the shop in Tucson showed me I was loading my shear handle all wrong
I've been cutting for about 4 years and always just gripped the handle with my index finger riding high on the tang. A stylist at the shop in Tucson watched me do a blunt bob and stopped me mid-section to point out that my thumb was doing all the work while my pinky was floating. She had me drop my grip lower and use a lighter hold, and honestly my hand stopped aching after a full day of cuts. Two weeks in and my lines are cleaner too, especially on the left side where I used to drag. I think I was squeezing way too hard and getting tired, which made the cut wander. Has anyone else had someone call out their grip like that, or is it just one of those things each of us figues out on our own?
