Not a fan of the tape-in extension hype that's been going around at my salon for the last 3 years

I started doing tape-ins for clients back in 2021 at the Supercuts in Fresno, and I've had to redo almost half of them within 4 weeks because of slipping or matting. The adhesive always fails faster than they promise, and it's way more damaging to take out than sew-ins or clip-ins. Am I the only one who thinks they're overrated for how much time and money they cost in maintenance?

Agree with you completely. Tried tape-ins on myself back in 2020 before the hype blew up, and they were a total mess. The adhesive left this sticky residue that took forever to get out, plus my hair started thinning at the roots after just two months. Switched to hand-tied wefts and never looked back. Way less damage and they last way longer without the slipping.

My sister tried tape-ins last year and spent fifty bucks at a salon getting them put in. Two weeks later one of them just slid right off while she was brushing her hair. She had little sticky tabs all over her scalp that looked like old gum. Hand-tied wefts are the way to go for sure, way less headache and your hair actually stays where its supposed to.
