Just counted and realized I've done 47 balayage services this month alone, which is wild because I was so nervous about the technique last year.

It really hit me how much practice pays off, so for anyone else who felt shaky with a new skill at first, how long did it take you to feel totally confident?

That "nervous about the technique last year" feeling is so real. I fumbled with foil placement for a solid six months before it clicked. You just have to grind through those first fifty or so awkward clients where everything takes twice as long. One day your hands just stop fighting you and start doing the thing automatically.

Seriously? Six months of fumbling sounds like a whole lot of extra stress. I get that new stuff is hard, but fifty awkward clients is a ton of practice time. Maybe some people just overthink the process instead of keeping it simple. It shouldn't feel like a battle with your own hands for that long.
