I dropped $90 on a pair of thinning shears and they were a total waste
I been cutting hair for about 5 years now and I finally decided to splurge on some expensive thinning shears from a brand my coworker swore by. Cost me $90 at the beauty supply store down on 5th street. First time I used them on a client with thick curly hair, they just pulled and snagged instead of cutting clean. I thought maybe it was just me not used to them yet, but after a few more tries on different hair types, same problem every time. Ended up going back to my old $25 shears that have never let me down. Has anyone else had a bad experience with high end thinning shears that just didn't perform?

Not gonna lie, I kinda read this and thought "congrats, you bought the scissors version of a fancy blender that can't crush ice." Like, $90 is what, three trips to the drive thru? Your old $25 shears were probably made by the same machine in a different color, just with less markup and hype from your coworker.

I mean, $90 for thinning shears that don't even cut? That's rough, but honestly, I don't think it's that serious. You spent less than a hundred bucks on something that didn't work out, not a down payment on a house. Sounds like you just got a dud brand or maybe they were mislabeled at the store. People act like thinning shears are some holy grail tool, but at the end of the day, they're just scissors with teeth. Your old $25 pair worked fine, so just stick with those and move on. No need to write a whole manifesto about it unless you're really bored.
