Heard a client say their stylist didn't wash out conditioner and it ruined their hair

I overheard this woman at the grocery store talking about how her last stylist left heavy conditioner in her fine hair and it caused buildup and breakage over 3 months. It made me double check my own rinse-out technique for every client. Has anyone else seen damage from leftover product like that?

Didn't someone post about a stylist who left mousse in a client's hair and it actually started to smell like a wet dog after a few days? I had a friend who went to a chain salon and they put so much leave-in spray on her that her hair looked greasy by the next morning. She had to wash it three times just to get the sticky feeling out. The worst part was that the stylist kept insisting it was "moisture" but it was clearly just too much product.
