Had a 5 minute talk with an older stylist that totally flipped my view on foils
I was at a salon swap meet last Saturday and chatted with this woman who's been doing hair for 40 years. She told me she never uses more than 15 foils for a full highlight because she focuses on placement over volume. It hit different because I've been wasting product and time piling on foils like crazy. Has anyone else had a seasoned pro change up one of your core techniques with just a few sentences?

Did she mention how she spaces them out to get even coverage with only 15?

Funny enough, I tried a similar setup with my own garden last year, only I used 12 peonies instead of 15, and it turned into this weird checkerboard pattern that looked like a bad chess board. She might be doing something like staggering them in a zigzag or triangulating the spacing, which is what my neighbor swears by for her lilies. Either way, I still ended up with bare patches that I had to fill in with random annuals from the clearance rack.
