Changed my mind about using those pre-blended toners after my client's roots came out purple last Tuesday

I was at my station at Shear Bliss Salon when I mixed a supposedly foolproof dusty lavender toner from a bottle and it pulled bright purple on her regrowth, so I had to spend 20 minutes fixing it with a demi-permanent neutral beige, and now I'm back to mixing my own formulas - anyone else had bad luck with those all-in-one toners?

...so you've had it happen too? How long did you let the beige demi sit before you rinsed it out? I'm trying to figure out if I'm just not processing it long enough or if the formula itself is the real issue.
