Blew through three different hair glosses in one afternoon and they all came out patchy

Last Tuesday I tried a new glossing technique on a client with level 6 copper hair, and the first one oxidized way too dark within 15 minutes. Swapped to a clear gloss to fix it, and it somehow made the color streak worse. Has anyone else had a brand fail mid-process like that, or was I just moving too slow?

Oh man, the "oxidized way too dark" thing hit me right in the memories. I had a nightmare last spring with a client who had this gorgeous level 7 strawberry blonde and I used a gloss that was supposed to be barely-there rose gold. Within 10 minutes it turned this weird muddy brownish color, totally uneven. I tried to fix it with a clear gloss too (like you did) and it just made these patchy stripes where the first gloss had already set. I honestly think some brands just don't play nice with copper tones or maybe I'm just too slow with the application brush.
