Blew out my curling iron mid-client this morning, had to get creative
I was in the middle of a full set of beach waves for a bridal trial at my chair in Salon Lofts around 10am when my 1.25 inch iron just sparked and died. Bride was calm but I was panicking inside because I had three more sections to curl and no backup iron in my kit. I grabbed my flat iron and started doing those twisted ribbon curls instead, section by section, and honestly it came out better than my usual method. She actually asked me if I could do the whole wedding party that way instead. Ended up saving the day with a tool I almost never use for curls. Anybody else ever have a tool fail on them in the middle of a service and have to MacGyver your way through it?

A flat iron saved my bacon once too lol. My blow dryer literally caught fire in the middle of a balayage and I had to finish drying this lady's hair with the hand dryer from the bathroom while my coworker ran to Ulta for a new one. MacGyvering with a flat iron for beach waves sounds way more glamorous than what I was doing that day. Sometimes the universe forces us to level up our skills in the most inconvenient ways.

Level up our skills" is so real, @colemiller - keep a spare dryer in your kit after that one, trust me.
