Balayage timing used to take me 4 hours, now I'm down to 90 minutes

I used to paint every single section super slow and second guess myself the whole time, especially after that one client in Denver complained about banding back in 2021. Now I map out the placement first with clips and a headband, then I trust the weave pattern and move faster without overanalyzing. Switching to a drier lightener formula also helped me cut processing time, so I stopped obsessing over wet saturation levels. My biggest change was timing myself on mannequin heads every Sunday for 3 months until the muscle memory kicked in. Anyone else find that their speed improved after they stopped trying to be perfect on every strand? What made the biggest difference for you? I'm curious if it was technique or just confidence from repetition.
