Appreciation post for the old stylist who took time to correct me
I was doing a balayage on a client last Tuesday and this stylist with 30 years experience named Marie watched me from across the room. She came over after and pointed out I was saturating my foils way too close to the root, which was causing uneven processing. Has anyone else had a moment where a small fix from a senior stylist totally changed how you work?

Funny enough I had the opposite happen where a younger stylist called me out for overcorrecting my foils and making them too far from the root. Turns out my old method was actually fine for certain hair types and I was making it worse trying to fix something that wasn't broken. Really makes you wonder how much of what we learn from seniors is universal truth versus just their personal preference based on their specific clientele.

Oh man, my buddy Jenna had that exact same thing happen. She was doing highlights all wrong for months and this old school stylist named Linda just walked over and showed her one tiny tweak with the foil folding. She said it was like a light bulb went off.
