A client told me my blowouts were too flat and I changed everything

Honestly, a regular of mine at the salon in Austin straight up said my blowouts looked "smooth but lifeless" like three months ago. I was using too much tension and not enough heat on the roots so the volume just fell out by lunch. She showed me that old twist-and-pin trick with round brushes and now I start sectioning from the crown instead of the nape. Has anyone else had a client give feedback that totally shifted their technique? I'm curious what specific thing they called you out on.

Blowouts too flat" is honestly the nicest way someone could tell me I was giving them helmet hair. I'd probably still be mad about it for a week though.
