A client actually made me rethink how I do blowouts

She was an older lady, maybe 75, and after I finished her blowout she said I was too rough with the brush on her ends. I always thought tension was key, but she showed me her own routine at home and it was way softer. Has anyone else had a client change how you approach a basic service?

My aunt who's 78 taught me the same trick with her fine hair. She showed me that pulling too hard on the ends when they're damp just makes them snag and break off over time. Now I use way less tension on the last few inches and I cup the hair with my other hand instead of yanking through with the brush. It actually gives a smoother finish too because the hair isn't fighting against the brush the whole time. I've started doing this for all my older clients with finer hair and they always notice the difference now.

I read that older clients' hair needs way less tension because it's more fragile, and that made me change my whole brush technique.
