Vent: BIM coordinator quit mid-project and the model was a mess of orphaned views

We hired a BIM coordinator in March for a 40,000 sq ft medical office in Austin. He was good at meetings, talked a big game. Then he left with 2 weeks notice in May and the Revit model was a disaster. Orphaned views everywhere, no central file backup, and 80% of the families were named like 'family1' and 'family2'. Took us 3 weeks to straighten it out before the steel order. Spent $12,000 in overtime just cleaning up his mess. Now I ask every sub for a model audit before we sign. Has anyone else been burned by a smooth-talking tech who can't document their own work?

Did you see that thread about firms adding model audits to every contract now?
