The Tuesday that almost killed our schedule in Columbus
We were pouring footers for a 14-unit townhome complex off Route 161 and the rebar inspector flagged 3 of our tie placements around 10am. Instead of pushing back, I pulled the crew together and we reworked those spots in under 90 minutes, which saved the pour window before the rain hit at 2. Anyone else ever had an inspector catch something small that could have snowballed into a week of delays?

Rebar crews are where small stuff turns into big money fast, and 90 minutes is nothing compared to what a failed pour costs you. One thing that saved us on a similar job was having the inspector walk the grid with us before we tied anything, so we knew his pet peeves going in (turns out he wanted chairs doubled at every other bar, who knew). Also keep a spare guy on standby during footer pours just for rework, because once that truck shows up you are on the clock no matter what. Rain at 2 means you had maybe four hours of working time, so pulling the crew instead of arguing was the right call. Arguing with an inspector costs you the argument plus the delay, every single time.
