Tarp vs hard shell for site storage, I flipped after one storm

I used to swear by tarps for covering materials on site, cheaper and easy to replace. But after a windstorm in Tulsa last month blew one off and ruined $400 worth of lumber, I switched to a hard shell storage box. It cost more upfront but I haven't had to re-buy a single board since. Anyone else run into this picking cheap over secure?

You ever try ratchet strapping the tarp down instead of bungees? I learned that one the hard way too, but a solid box beats fighting the wind every time.
