Rant: Wasted $1,200 on a rental skid steer that was way too small for our job

We were clearing a 2 acre lot outside of Denver for a new foundation, and I figured a compact skid steer would be fine. Spent 3 days trying to move big rocks and stumps with a Bobcat S70, and it just couldn't hack it. Ended up having to rent a bigger machine for another $800 and lost two days of labor waiting for it. Has anyone else gotten burned by underestimating equipment size for a site?

Did you try digging into the ground at all before picking the S70? That thing is basically a toy for light landscaping, not real dirt work.
