A super in Dallas made me walk his punch list before anyone else touched the unit
I was on a 14 unit rehab off Ross Ave and he handed me the list while the drywall guys were still packing up. He said fixing stuff before trades clear out saves 3 trips back, and after two projects with him I started doing the same on every job. Anyone else write punch before the subs are gone, or wait until the end?
Doing punch while subs are still there saved me so many headaches on a 8 unit I did last year. The drywall guys were still sanding and I just walked room to room marking stuff with blue tape, and the super loved it because he could point at a scuff and the guy who did it was standing right there. Twice I caught outlet plates that were crooked and the electrician fixed them on the spot instead of me calling him back two weeks later. The only thing is you gotta be cool about it, like don't be a jerk waving a clipboard around while they're trying to finish, just catch them between tasks. Waiting till the end just means you're calling guys who already moved on to another job and now they want a trip charge. So yeah, punch early, it's the move.
