Vent: That 40-yard basement pour in Denver last Tuesday was a nightmare from start to finish.

The pump truck broke down halfway through, and we had to hand-feed the last 15 yards before the mix started setting up. Anyone ever had a supplier comp you for lost time on a job like that?

Man, that's a rough one. Diana302 is right about the fight, but check your contract's "force majeure" clause. If their equipment failure isn't covered under that, you've got a stronger case for more than just a material credit. Push for them to cover the extra labor and any overtime to fix the cold joints that mess probably caused. A lot of guys just argue about the wasted concrete and miss the bigger picture of the downstream problems they created.

That sounds brutal. Getting them to cover labor costs for that kind of delay is a tough fight, but definitely worth pushing for. What did the supplier say when you called them?
