Vent: Poured a slab in Phoenix and the finisher skipped the mid-slab control joint

I was on a driveway job in Phoenix last August and my guy decided the mid-slab joint would "mess up the look" so he left it out. Three months later there's a crack running right through the middle, and now the homeowner is blaming me for the whole thing. Has anyone else had to fight a customer over a missing joint that you told them was necessary?

Did you get the whole thing in writing that you told him no? I had a similar deal on a patio in Tucson where the guy wanted a seamless look and I made him sign a waiver. Still felt bad when it cracked, but at least he couldn't come after me for it.
