Used dish soap on a 12x12 slab pour last week and it actually worked

Buddy told me to wipe my float with a capful of Dawn in a bucket of water between passes and the cream stopped skinning over so fast that we got a way cleaner finish before the sun hit it, has anyone else messed with soap in their wash water or is that just a Gulf Coast thing?
