Took me 5 years to realize I was overworking my concrete edges...
I used to hit my edges with a steel trowel like 4 or 5 times before they'd set. Kept chasing that perfect shine but they always ended up looking rough and flaking a bit. Then a buddy on a job in Daytona watched me for like 2 minutes and goes "you're burning them, man. Just one pass with the trowel after the magnesium." I tried it on my next driveway pour and the edges came out smooth as glass with zero effort. Feels dumb it took that long to click. Anyone else have a basic technique they did wrong for years before someone called it out?

Wait, you were hitting them four or five times? Honestly that sounds exhausting just reading it. Ngl I always figured more passes meant a better finish but I guess it's the opposite.
