Took me 5 hours to fix a crack in a slab I poured last Tuesday
I poured a small patio slab for a client in Austin, and the next morning there was a hairline crack running right through the middle. I spent the whole afternoon grinding it out, patching it with a slurry mix, and trying to match the color. Has anyone else had a fresh pour crack on them like that, and what did you do to fix it?

Ugh man that stinks. I feel your pain, that's the worst feeling when you think you did everything right and the concrete just decides to crack anyway. Grinding and patching is really all you can do once it's set, but matching the color is the real nightmare. In this Texas heat, I've had slabs crack on me too, especially if I don't keep the surface moist enough during the first day. You did the right thing though, better to spend the time fixing it than having to tear the whole thing out later.

I mean I get what you're saying @luna_sanchez but sometimes a crack just means the mix was too dry or the ground wasn't prepped right, and patching it just delays the problem. Idk, I'd almost rather rip it out now than gamble on it spreading later.
