The day I switched from a wood float to a magnesium float for a driveway job
I was finishing a big driveway in Phoenix last summer, the kind where the sun bakes the surface in minutes. For years I'd only used a wood float, but the concrete was setting up way too fast. My buddy handed me his magnesium float and said 'try this, it's cooler'. The difference was instant, way less sticking and a smoother finish. Anyone else find a specific tool that changed how you handle hot weather pours?

Sounds like a pretty minor upgrade to me.

Yeah, @wells.parker, totally felt that with the last update too.

A magnesium float is just a different tool, not some magic fix. It might help a bit with sticking in the heat, but it's not going to save a pour that's going wrong. Good timing and knowing how to work the mix matter a lot more than the type of float in your hand. People make too big a deal about gear sometimes. The basics are what get the job done right.
