That pour in Phoenix last June where the mix showed up 20 minutes late...

It was 108 degrees and we had the forms all set. Truck pulls up and the driver says they had a flat on the 10. We dumped it fast but you could already see it stiffening up. Had to work double time with the bull float and ended up with a rough finish near the edges. Anyone else have a late delivery ruin a hot weather pour?

You said "you could already see it stiffening up" but that's not really how it works with hot concrete. The stiffening from heat actually happens faster in the truck than on the ground, especially when you're dumping fast. What you're seeing at the edges is probably the water flashing off the surface from the ambient temp, not the mix going off. I've had pours at 105 where we had 45 minutes of working time after dumping, even with a late truck, as long as we kept a mist on it. That rough finish near the edges sounds more like you lost surface moisture while bull floating, not the concrete setting up on you.

Rode a forklift through a sprinkler line once trying to beat the heat.
