That fancy power trowel I laughed at 5 years ago

Back in 2019 I was on a crew in Nashville and the foreman dropped $4,000 on a ride-on power trowel. I thought it was a waste of money and made jokes about it every morning. Now I own one and I cannot believe I spent 15 years doing 20,000 square foot floors on my knees. Anybody else have a tool they swore they'd never buy and then changed their mind?

Funny how the stuff you mock ends up saving your knees down the line lol. Nobody talks about the hidden cost of not having the right tool for the big jobs. But once you clock the time and pain saved, that price tag starts looking like a bargain.

That "hidden cost" thing applies to way more than just tools. I've noticed it with pretty much anything in life that takes effort upfront to save you trouble later. Like learning how to cook a few real meals instead of living on takeout. Nobody talks about the money you burn on delivery fees and bad food until you actually bother to learn. Same with basic car maintenance. People will mock you for checking your oil until your engine seizes and they're stuck with a tow bill.
