Serious question, has anyone else had a power trowel die right as you start the final pass?

We were finishing a 30x40 slab in Springfield last month when my old Whiteman just quit. I had to finish the last quarter by hand with a magnesium float, and it actually came out smoother than the machine work. Anyone have a good backup plan for when equipment fails mid-pour?

Always keep a backup float and trowel in your truck for exactly this reason.

Pulled into a job last week where the homeowner had already tried patching a crack with caulk and drywall tape. Looked like a bad bandaid on a broken arm. Ended up having to cut out a two foot section and re-mud the whole thing just to get it flat. Sometimes the quick fix just makes more work down the road.
