Pro tip: I had to pick between a magnesium float and a wood float for a hot pour on a driveway in Austin yesterday.

Went with the magnesium and it cut my finishing time in half because it didn't stick to the surface like the wood one always does, so what's your go-to float for high heat jobs?

Yeah, the wood float sticking is the worst. I was doing a patio slab last summer in similar heat and my wood float was just grabbing the surface, leaving a rough mess. Switched to my old magnesium float and it was like night and day, just gliding over it. It doesn't absorb the moisture so you can keep moving. I don't even bring the wood one out for hot pours anymore.

My aluminum float saved me when my wood one kept sticking too.

Mary, I actually prefer the wood float even in heat if you soak it first.
